SACRED OPTIMISM: integrate spiritual energy savers into your daily life and develop inner peace.

29 Apr

Being peaceful means having sacred optimism and expectations about everything, whether it is about the birth of a child, your life, the passing of a parent, or your own impending death. Sacred optimism is the realization of knowing that the sun is shining behind the clouds. Such a positive outlook, in return, brings about the best outcomes.

Optimism is faithfulness. The prism of faith catches the light and disperses it on every aspect of your life, whether it is health, work satisfaction, marital contentment, or death. Pessimism is spiritual starvation. Seeing the world through the no-faith prism is simply a misunderstanding of life. Pessimism is misinterpretation of reality, like emphasizing that the sun is always setting somewhere else.

Make optimism a ritual in your daily life.  They can be rituals that convey love, gratitude, respect, kindness,  humility and cheerfulness.  You need to cultivate your own positive rituals and integrate them as spiritual energy savers into your daily life.

Spiritual peacefulness comes from recognizing that we are transient in our present forms, but eternal in “no form.” The dread of no longer being―the eternal absence―is related to our misunderstanding of time. “Eternity” doesn’t mean endless time; it means no time.

We know from science that our body is representative of the world body; that is, it is made of organic and inorganic substances, as are all other creatures. Structures formed by these substances have limited lives. When all the cells of our body return to their original state, they’ll be poised to serve in the formation of a new creature. While anything alive is on a celestial pilgrimage of dying, it simultaneously secures the inexhaustible source of life.

Our souls are timeless and formless. The rhythm of the sun and the moon is your witness to timelessness; their beams are formless. Travel in them until you are them. Your soul is not to be equated with cells of your body. The soul exists in one host form or another, but it has no form itself. This formlessness is what makes the soul eternal. It never exists nor does it cease to exist in the usual sense of understanding existence.

Eternal life is life in God’s essence. You need not anguish about the future, nor long for it; rather, just drink deeply from the Holy Well with tender trust. Faith lowers the heavens to earth and raises cemeteries to the heavens.

But what happens when we live God’s way? He brings gifts into our lives, much the same way that fruit appears in an orchard—things like affection for others, exuberance about life, serenity. We develop a willingness to stick with things, a sense of compassion in the heart, and a conviction that a basic holiness permeates things and people. We find ourselves involved in loyal commitments, not needing to force our way in life, able to marshal and direct our energies wisely.  Galations 5 :22-23
